At its core, this design prioritises motor skill development, offering a unique facility with significant health benefits. It directly enhances coordination, manoeuvrability, and bike skills, contributing to city-wide goals for active transport.
These dynamic activity zones can be seamlessly integrated into existing hard surfaces with minimal disruption, providing a more dynamic and useful alternative to traditional 'learn to ride' facilities. In fact, dedicated 'learn to ride' features can be easily incorporated into the park's design.
This approach aligns perfectly with the Parklife strategy of leveraging existing assets. Imagine transforming an old carpark, underutilized tennis court, or paved area into a vibrant Bike Playground or Motor Skills Park!
As well as one red and one blue Park Pump Track, the park features:
A wheel volcano
A pole slalom
Gripping targets (balloon-shaped balls dangling in photo above)
Elevated balancing route
A vibrating slope
Sleepers
Rails
Cobblestones
By honing your riding skills at this circular course, riders develop safer, more confident wheeled athletes. The park is not just for cyclists either: non-motorized scooters, skateboards, (inline) skates and wheelchairs are welcome.
